Scenic Design by Rachel Hauck

A massive plexi-glas wall separated the downstage playing area from the bowling alley upstage.

Despite some major delays during load-in, we were able to maximize our time onstage and have the set ready for tech.

A frosted plexiglas wall was the main element of the set. It was hung on a lineset and installed with chain hoist assistance.

Each section of the wall had drafting dedicated to the 3/4" box tube framing and a second drafting component for plexiglas layout (seen here).

Several large openings were integrated into the wall, and seams between sections were accomplished with 3/8" x 1" flat bar to acheive a 3/4" thickness consistent with the rest of the framing, and low-profile hardware (binding barrels and screws).

All plexiglas was pre-cut and pre-drilled with countersinks prior to application to the steel framing.

Masking walls were installed downstage with a mix of overhead tie-backs and pick points to the trussing for support.

Hard legs upstage were installed with pick-points for support to facilitate actor movement around the units.
